Steve Bull

For a player to start his career at West Bromwich Albion and then become a legend at fierce rivals Wolverhampton is not an everyday occurrence. Although, Steve Bull is not an everyday character.

Steve Bull played nine games and scored three goals before the Baggies rather stupidly sold him to Wolves in 1986 for £65,000. Little did they know that they had just sold a future England international who would go on to score over 300 league goals.

A lot of Bully's success was down to his prolific partnership with Andy Mutch between 1986 and 1993. During this period the two scored over 300 goals between them. Mr Bull, on the way to becoming Wolves all time top goal scorer, managed to net an incredible 18 career hat-tricks.

Even though Bull never made it to the top flight with his beloved Wolves, he still managed to achieve international recognition. The powerful striker made a scoring debut for England, as a second half substitute against Scotland at Hampden Park. What was even more remarkable was at the time he was playing in the old Third Division. He went on to make a further 12 appearances and score another 3 goals, and was part of the squad for the 1990 World Cup.

Steve Bull MBE, no longer plays but is still firmly involved in the game. For ten hours a week he returns to Molineux to assist the club with public relations. The rest of his time is spent coaching Non-League Hereford with his ex-Wolves boss Graham Turner. This Brummie Daddy 'was a tatter, he wore an England cap, he played for Wolverhampton, he is a lovely chap.'
